That's a critical question for the solo entrepreneur.
When you are the lone business owner, employee, product creator, customer service rep, and shipping clerk you literally become the business.
You have no one to blame, no one to rely on, no one to pass the buck to.
You stand alone bearing your torch to the world and you either make it or you don't on your own skill and wisdom.
You attitude about yourself and the business you've created will make all the difference in the world when it comes to projecting your business in front of your customers.
When you act like a professional, your prospects and customers will perceive you as one. If you act like a barbarian, or a dictator, or a child, your customers will begin to think of you and your business in those same terms.
Self-confidence is a powerful thing. If you exude it in your business, you'll be seen as an expert, as the go-to guy in your niche when the customer needs something. If you are timid and hesitant, no one will feel like they can trust you completely to solve their problem.
No one expects you to be God. You don't have to be right 100% of the time. It will be okay if you can't answer a question or solve every problem that's thrown at you.
In fact, such situations can really be used to cement your standing with your customers. Tell them you don't have the answer they're looking for, but that you'll do some research and find the answer by tomorrow.
When tomorrow comes, prominently display the answer that you've found and make sure it is sufficient for the customer asking the question.
Your clients will see that you're not a "know-it-all" but that you care enough about them individually that you would go out of your way to help someone solve a particular problem at your expense.
Your energy and enthusiasm for keeping your customers happy will draw additional people around you. It will magnetize your business to pull in customers that just want to be treated fairly and honestly.
When you believe in yourself, you energize your personality. There are not a lot of people in each of our lives that have an abundance of this quality. But when you find a person that does, you want to be around them, associate with them, and model their success in the hope that you will become the same type of person.
A solo business owner must believe in himself if he expects others to believe in his business and his products.
